“I love how things appear different when you get close. The foreground of rolling hills in this landscape is less than 4 inches across, being the moss atop a fencepost. I used a macro lens on my Nikon D300s near Hunterston Castle in Ayrshire. I had trouble getting it all in, so I took one picture of the top half, and another of the bottom, stitching the two images together on my computer. To get reasonable depth of field I used a shutter speed of 1/2 second, giving an f stop of f32.”
