“Dance like no one is watching.” You’ve heard it before, but I’ll write it again. And if it helps, dance with no one watching.
In one episode of Friends (from back in my bad old days – heehee – when I watched TV), Rachel and Phoebe went running together in Central Park. Phoebe ran like a little kid, with arms and legs flailing. Joy!
When I first took belly dancing lessons, a friend of mine said, “Think of how kids dance. They don’t care how they look, and they have a great time.” They’re also a heck of a lot of fun to watch.
So – if, like me, you spend too much time using your legs for a laptop stand and your torso as something to hold your head up so you can see the screen – please join me in declaring the next few minutes time to futterwacken vigorously. ‘Cause there should always be time for a dance break.
